[제12차 ADRN 지역회의] "직접민주주의, 소수자 인권, 이행기 정의와 민주주의 책임성 연구" (8/26 금 - 8/27 토)

아시아민주주의연구네트워크(Asia Democracy Research Network: ADRN) 사업의 일환으로 동아시아연구원(East Asia Institute: EAI)은 8월 26(금) - 27일(토) 인천에서 제12차 ADRN 지역회의를 개최했습니다. 이번 지역회의에서는 ADRN 멤버기관들이 지난 1년동안 직접민주주의, 소수자인권, 이행기정의 주제에 관해 연구해온 결과를 발표하고, 차년도 연구주제인 민주주의 책임성(democracy accountability) 문제를 논의하였습니다. 아울러 개최국 한국의 민주주의 지원 현황과 굿거버넌스 사례를 살펴보고, 스리랑카와 파키스탄이 직면한 민주주의 도전 과제에 대해 논의하는 특별세션을 진행했습니다. 본 행사에는 아시아 14개국 22개 기관의 ADRN 멤버들이 온오프라인으로 참석했으며, 아시아민주주의네트워크와 미 민주주의기금(NED)이 함께 참여하였습니다.

 

ADRN은 2013년 동아시아연구원의 주도 하에 구성된 네트워크로, 아시아 지역에서 민주주의가 당면한 도전과제를 분석하고 보다 실용적인 협동연구를 통해 이 지역의 민주주의 확산과 공고화에 기여하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 방글라데시, 인도, 인도네시아, 일본, 한국, 말레이시아, 몽골, 미얀마(버마), 네팔, 파키스탄, 필리핀, 스리랑카, 대만, 태국 등 14개 아시아국가들의 민주주의 관련 싱크탱크들이 참여하고 있으며, 동아시아연구원은 현재 ADRN의 사무국을 맡고 있습니다.
