In this commentary, the EAI Security Net examines the effects of the U.S.-China Summit on the newly established pattern of relationships between the two great powers. It further suggests four principles on which the South Korean government can shape its own policy doctrine towards North Korea.

Experts Seminars and EAI Fellows Program Working Papers
EAI Fellow Professors Myung-Koo Kang(Baruch College, City University of New York), Yuan-kang Wang (Western Michigan University), and Min Ye(Boston University) will take part in the Experts Seminar on June 28, July 2, and July 8 respectively. The presentations will be based on the Working Papers submitted through the EAI Fellows Program.
Roundtable Discussion with Thomas M. Countryman
The EAI invited Thomas M. Countryman, Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation in the U.S. Department of State, on June 4 for a closed roundtable discussion with South Korean scholars and experts.
KF-EAI Korea Friendship Academicus
KF-EAI Korea Friendship lecture series "Academicus" are held every Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18 to July 11. The lecture series consists of various topics on Korea such as politics, economy, culture, society, media, national security, and education.
2013 EAI Special Report on the 18th-Century Korean Map
In this special report, Gari Keith Ledyard examines an 18th-century map of Korea on which all the notes and place-names are written exclusively in Korean characters (Hangul) instead of Classical Chinese (Hanmun). The special report analyzes the cartographer's unique style and methods.
Apply for the EAI Fellows Program 2013-2014
Applications for the EAI Fellows Program 2013-14 are open for submission until July 15, 2013. This program offers selected fellows the opportunity to present seminars and lectures, based on an unpublished article on current regional issues, at two or more partner institutions in East Asia.
