South Asia Democratic Unity Dialogue

On August 13-14, 2018, on behalf of the Asia Democracy Research Network (ADRN), EAI and other ADRN members from South Asian countries participated in a sub-regional dialogue on India-China bilateral relations held by the Samriddhi Foundation in Kathmandu, Nepal.
During the sessions on Monday, August 13, participants discussed emerging trends in India-China bilateral relations and considered the political and economic implications of the recent developments surrounding the South Asian region. Both opportunities and challenges posed by Chinese and Indian foreign policy approaches were explored.
On Tuesday, August 14, a more practical discussion focusing on the role of civil society and independent research think tanks in bringing together diverse voices within the region ensued. The conversation focused particularly on the role of regional networks such as the ADRN in engaging with like-minded group of people across South Asia.
