This is a video of the keynote address given by former Foreign Affairs Minister of Korea Sung-Joo Han on November 13, 2015 at the "Preparing for a Peaceful Unification of Korea" Conference which was hosted by the Presidential Committee for Unification Preparation and the Ministry of Unification, and organized by the East Asia Institute. Dr. Han stressed the fact that without the cooperation and support of the U.S. it will be difficult to get backing from neighboring countries such as China and Japan for peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. He said, “In promoting unification, it is essential for South Korea consult and coordinate quietly but proactively with its four major neighboring powers.”
