 EAI Issue Briefing on the Future Role of the United States in Asia

ROK-China relations have made remarkable progress since ties were established in 1993, yet difficulties remain. In this paper Jung-Nam Lee looks into the popular perception of current strategic threats and diplomatic challenges in the two countries by analyzing the results of Korean and Chinese public opinion polls.

 NetKAL Leadership Conference
On October 12, the EAI held the Network of Korean-American Leaders (NetKAL) Leadership Conference. At this event, NetKAL fellows and members shared their experiences and advice on career planning and leadership development with undergraduate and graduate students.

New Issue of Journal of East Asian Studies
A special issue of the Journal of East Asian Studies is available now. Under the title of "Japan under the DPJ," this issue features guest editors Phillip Y. Lipscy and Ethan Scheiner and includes articles on Japan's election system, political transformations, and women in Japanese politics.

 Experts Seminar with Prof. Peter van Ness
EAI Fellow Professor Peter van Ness, Australian National University, took part in the Experts Seminar on October 22. Professor van Ness presented on his research focused on a comparative assessment of Mao Zedong and George W. Bush and the loss of moral authority.
