The East Asia Institute (President Yul Sohn) held the 10th online seminar of the COVID-19 and the New World Order series, titled “North Korea in a New Era of U.S.-South Korea Partnership,” co-hosted with the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at Brookings Institution. The May 2021 U.S.-ROK joint statement addressed expanding the U.S. alliance with South Korea to address regional security, marking a new era of expanded U.S.-South Korea partnership. In this context, how will the two countries pursue North Korea policy? During this seminar, experts from the U.S. and South Korea will discuss the status for the complete denuclearization of North Korea, prospects for the Biden and Moon administrations’ efforts for resuming talks, U.S.-ROK cooperation and the end-of-war declaration, and North Korea policy under a new Korean administration.
