From "Look East" to "Act East": India as a Security Actor and Security Provider
main
"The New Role of India as a Security Provider in East Asia"
This paper focuses on the role of India as a security provider in East Asia region. India's foreign policy has focused on the South Asian region, and its extended role as an international actor is described as the Look East/Act East policy, which was initiated through sectoral linkages with ASEAN. Currently, the role of India as a possible security provider in East Asia is slowly gaining importance. Dr. Jagannath P. Panda of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) in New Delhi, India, reviews the extended role of India in East Asia's security issues through its Act East policy, and he suggests necessary requirements for a potential security provider in the region. Dr. Panda submitted this working paper as part of his research activities for the EAI Fellows Program. pc   mobile
