"Trumpism: Death of Neoliberalism and Political Meltdown of American Hegemony 2.0?"
Donald Trump, a complete outsider, captured the Republican nomination for the 2016 U.S. presidential election and will be running against the "ultimate Democratic insider," Hillary Clinton. In this paper, Heajeong Lee explains the political rise of Trump through historical and political economic perspectives. Emphasizing that Trumpism is the result of the American masses' rejection of American hegemony 2.0 such as neoliberalism, free trade, and military interventions, Lee argues that regardless of who wins the election in November, America is faced with the challenges of founding American hegemony 3.0 in post-middle class domestic politics and an anti-globalization world economy. pc   mobile
