The East Asia Institute (EAI) hosted the Seoul International Conference on November 16-17, 2018 for the "Rising China and New Civilization in the Asia Pacific" research project. The conference, which was held at the Somerset Palace in Seoul, brought together the four research teams from South Korea, China, Japan, and the U.S. to present and discuss the outcomes of their first year research. The conference was divided into six sessions on China’s energy and the environment, technology development, political economy, security, and the future of the regional order. Participants discussed diverse issues on China’s growth, the challenges that it will face up to 2030, and possible solutions to those challenges.
