"Rising China and New Civilization in the Asia-Pacific" China Workshop
"Mapping the Impact of China’s GDP Growth"
The East Asia Institute is currently leading an international research project entitled “Rising China and New Civilization in the Asia Pacific” which seeks to map out a sustainable global governance system aligned with the changes in the international order that China’s continued GDP growth is anticipated to create. On August 25th 2018, the East Asia Institute hosted the project’s third regional workshop in Beijing. The workshop was divided into four sessions on China’s economy, energy and the environment, technology, and security. Participants from the Korean and Chinese research teams discussed a variety of issues and trends including potential scenarios for the US-China trade war, technological developments in AI and clean energy, military spending and strategy, and gaps in regional economic development and wealth concentration.
