The East Asia Institute and the Korea Foundation jointly held the Korea Friendship Gala and Foreigners Night on August 24th at the Kukdo Hotel, Seoul. This event concluded this summer’s KF-EAI Korea Friendship program for foreign students studying in Korea.
The event was in part a completion ceremony for those who successfully completed the KF-EAI Korea Friendship program, and partly a networking and social gathering for Korea Friendship alumni, who were delegated as being “honorary ambassadors” for Korea. A further aim was to promote mutual understanding of various groups in Korea and encourage cultural exchange including foreign students residing in Korea.
The East Asia Institute, in collaboration with the Korea Foundation, as part of efforts towards public diplomacy, held the KF-EAI Korea Friendship educational program from July 10th until August 24th, 2017. The KF-EAI Korea Friendship program was an event designed for one hundred foreign students studying in Korea. It included special lectures related to topics on Korea, an academic conference, and opportunities to network with people from Korea and various other countries, and sought to foster friendship towards Korea among future global leaders. The program revolved around three axes: (1) “Academicus”: An eight-part lecture series focused on learning about Korea; (2) “Communicus”: An essay contest and academic conference; (3) “Empathicus”: Networking with participants and others from Korea and all over the world.
