The 7th Korea-Japan Future Dialogue
"Younger Generations, the Silver Lining of Korea-Japan Relations" (in Korean)

East Asia Institute(EAI), along with the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies(CIAS) and The Genron NPO, hosted the 7th Korea-Japan Future Dialogue from June 21-22 at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan. The Korea-Japan Future Dialogue consists of roundtable discussions led by Korean and Japanese experts from private, public, academic and cultural spheres. This year’s dialogue was based on the results from the 2019 Korea-Japan Joint Public Opinion Survey. Both the survey and the dialogue delved into issues in bilateral relations such as the South Korean Supreme Court ruling and the radar lock-on dispute. Despite rising tensions, both Japanese and Korean panelists agreed that bilateral cooperation is necessary, recognizing the younger generations and their relatively high affinity towards each other’s nation as a positive indicator for the future development of Korea-Japan relations.  pc   mobile
