"Myanmar Think Tanks Propose Ideas to Improve Governance"

The East Asia Institute, in partnership with Sandhi Governance Institute, hosted an international conference on May 24, 2018 titled "Empowering Citizens, Improving Governance: Pressing Policy Issues in Myanmar". The conference featured presentations by local Myanmar civil society organizations on current issues that offered evidence-based policy recommendations aimed at bettering governance practices in Myanmar. The conference was the culmination of the third round of EAI`s "Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar" program and included presentations on transportation reform, water policy, women`s empowerment, federalism, civic engagement, and others. Discussion panels featured experts from across Asia who provided input and recommendations on the policy suggestions put forth. EAI supports the institutional and research capacity building of think tanks in Myanmar through this program, which is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy. `pc`   `mobile`
